Biblical Paraphrases

Translating the conversation between Jesus and Thomas, the Apostle, after Jesus rose from the dead -
“Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails … I will not believe.”
"SEEING IS BELIEVING." - Thomas

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
"BELIEVING IS SEEING." - Jesus

Maharishi Says,

"Life expresses itself through love. The stream of life is a wave on the ocean of love, and life is expressed in the waves of love, and the ocean of love flows in the waves of life. What a comfort love brings to the heart."

(From: 'Love and God') - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Post Script to 'Initial Shock!!'

On my post, My Secret to Living Well, (July 2010), I revealed, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man happy, healthy, wealthy and wise."

However, with my body clock turned around these days, so is my brain, my secret has clearly turned upside-down, too, "A wealthy wise man makes bed happy, healthy and early to rise."

On Thanksgiving

For the first time yesterday, I heard X'mas songs playing continuously at KOIT. I've been hearing Xmas songs every now and then on radio and tv, but yesterday was just a little bit much! On the eve of Thanksgiving Day, at that?!

Here in America, X'mas season is overriding Thanksgiving! How sad! Thanksgiving is such an American culture and it's getting less and less attention especially here in the West Coast, I would suspect. With the conglomeration of many Asian people and cultures here, it is not surprising that the Christmas holiday is given more importance than Thanksgiving! First, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the Philippines (I can only speak for my country). We are big on Christmas! The holiday season there starts on the month that ends with '-ber'! So that means, September!! Yes, you'll start hearing X'mas songs and seeing decorations as early as that month there. And we've brought that culture along here in America!

However, I feel that we should honor Thanksgiving, the American tradition, here in this country! But, I guess, we can't help it. With holiday shopping, retail businesses want to start early.

I know one company which respects this American culture, though - NORDSTROM! I am very proud of this store. Nordstrom does not display any Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving Day. That's great! That says a lot about the company!

Otherwise, what can we do?? If I remember right, we all used to celebrate Thanksgiving first, then Christmas. But in early 2000, when the economy really went down, retail businesses had to do something to survive, so they had to attract people to shop as early as they could, and that means, way before Thanksgiving. Really sad!

I wonder, is it also like that in midwest, where there are less Asians? I admit the migration of Asians to this country, Filipinos, for one, has influenced this tremendous change. Gosh, can't we all just pause and celebrate one day, one holiday, one season, at a time? Life's too short to rush, rush, rush and miss out on life itself.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!
HAVE A GOOD ONE!

I Miss My Mother!

I miss my Mother tremendously! I've just talked to her on the phone and I miss her so much...

THANKSGIVING!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!! WE ALL HAVE SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! GOD BLESS!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Initial Shock!!

Annie was right! Besides the culture shock I went through with the company I am with now, (having been away for a long time from this kind of setup), my body clock, with the change in my time schedule, completely went out of sync! That's why the overwhelming stress at work! At first, I was fine, but weeks 2 and 3 were the most grueling, I thought I was gonna give up! (Me, give up?? Yup, I thought, Me, give up!!)

It's getting better, hopefully.

Easy does it, girl! Hinay-Hinay...

Inspiring... and Inspired!

On posters at the gym were ads for its arts and entertainment events this season -

CELEBRATE LIFE
See It Live

I thought it was one of those affirmations to motivate people to be health conscious and I liked it! I say it should be an ad for LIFE itself!

CELEBRATE LIFE EVERYDAY
See It Live

Here's Sharing

Saw this on web and thought I'd share -

The Miracle School :: Journey of Discovery

Waking Up at the Labyrinth...

Realizing where I saw the Labyrinth Garden, now I understand what the labyrinth is all about. It is a calling, my calling, one of those "AHA!" moments again! I did see the connection when I first saw the cornerstone but being tired after work, my mind was blurry. This morning, fresh and clear, it hit me, finally. It's not anything mystical, it's miraculous! One of those miracles that happen everyday that we miss sometimes 'cause we're always looking for big ones!

MARVELOUS!

See you at the Labyrinth!

"Labyrinth"

This word has been ringing in my head over and over, almost like "haunting" me for almost 2 years now, and more loudly these past few months, I don't know why. The other night, I found a cornerstone called Labyrinth Garden. And last night, Denny Zeitlin played his composition, Labyrinth, at his concert on solo piano at PPCO.

What is the Labyrinth? Where is it? What is it about? Something mysterious or perhaps, magical, I hope? Hmmm... will I see you there? There's something there or beyond... I wonder what!

Thought for the Day

Saw this ad on a bus -
FIND YOUR MAGIC
where it all comes together - MACY'S

Nice! Let's not forget, though, that although the magic may certainly come together at Macy's (great ad!), the magic begins with you, me, with each one of us!

I must admit, however, that with a lot of stress in my life presently, it's difficult for me to find the magic inside me. That's why, when I saw the ad, I thought to post it here as a personal reminder.

So, to me, I say -
FIND YOUR MAGIC
within!

Maharishi Says,

"See the job, do the job, stay out of the misery."

"There is time for everything in life."

How timely to find both one after the other! So calming, so reassuring!... Thank you, Maharishi.

The Hiromi Express

With the dexterity and velocity at which she can go on the piano, it has been the Hiromi Express tonight at Yoshi's! What a musical genius! A phenomenon! Playing solo on piano, she was unbelievable!

As a pianist, it has been a great, humbling experience for me. So much to learn! I'm so glad I went to see her or I would have missed a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity. Hiromi was truly inspiring...and I'm truly inspired!!

What a musical weekend this has been!

"Quote of the Day"

"If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life which you have imagined, you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours" - Thoreau

THE HIT MAN

When it comes to POP music, it's all about DAVID FOSTER! He doesn't need any introduction! He's simply called THE HIT MAN!

It is my dream to work with him. Hopefully, he'll produce me someday and more. I claim and believe. Amen.

Check out my music blog to see  and hear more of David Foster.

Funny Logos

You see those shuttle vans, station wagons with the companies' logos on them. CPMC has BEYOND MEDICINE. One time, I saw one with the door open and the logo read BEYOND ME.

Buying Frenzy!!

The whole world is buying SF GIANTS stuff!

Yesterday at the mall, there was a longgggg line at the GIANTS Dugout Store. Wow, this city will be celebrating for a long time until next season, at least, or even longer. Good for the economy, now that SF GIANTS have become World Champs. Once a champ, always a champ!

P.S.
I forgot about this store and the others. I thought they closed down due to the economy. Did they just reopen or were they always there? Who cares now! Torture is over! The GIANTS are World Champions! One. More. Time. - GO, GIANTS!!

Lil' Stories

Last night at work, while waiting for papers to print out, I was reading the message on the printer, but instead of 'processing job', I read, 'processing joy'I like that! Processing joy instead of job. In reality, in truth, it's processing job into joy - love it!

Amazing how miracles happen, in the most ordinary ways, in the littlest things, in our everyday living! Marvelous how God talks to us, in the most unexpected ways, in our mundane world!

How great Thou art, Lord! Thank you.

POST SCRIPT to PANDEMONIUM!!

Just can't get enough of the GIANTS and the victory parade! The truth is, I'm a sports fanatic!! And I've always been very impressed with women sportscasters. One of my dreams early on was to be a newscaster, especially sports, an extension of my interest with journalism. Yes, beneath this calmness is high energy and excitability!!

But my husband says I'll never make a good newscaster 'cause I get names all mixed-up which can get me into trouble, like, country singer, Carrie Underwear. Also, Comforter, that lovely black hip-hop dancer, Comfort, from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. And how about the name of that Las Vegas act with white tigers, etc., - SIGFRIED & ROY? When one of the guys got bitten by a tiger, I told Norman the news re: "Sigmund & Freud"!

Well, that's okay! But as a musician, a pianist, at that, how can I forget a well-known brand of piano, Mason & Hamlin, and call it "Marvin & Hamlisch"?? And also, well-known local bass player, David Belove, and call him, "Dearly Beloved"?

"Stick to music," Norman says. But all these names, these newsmakers I talk about are all in the music/entertainment business. What's he talking about?

"Stick to your music," he says.

Oh, well...

PANDEMONIUM!!

The victory parade, I can only watch on TV, but I love it! You can see from beginning to end! Of course, nothing beats live! There's just something "sensual, sensuous and sensible" about it. It triggers all the senses of hearing, touch, sight, taste and smell, unfiltered to every cell of the body, magnified a zillion times over. It's a-l-i-v-e! Even if the parade passes by so quickly from where you are, and you've waited hours to get up close and personal, it's the whole experience of being there that's phenomenal! It's unstoppable! The other side of the coin is, of course, after huge celebrations like that, parades, street fairs, festivals, and so on, it's sooooo draining physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, even financially. You're utterly open and vulnerable to everything around you, going extremes from high energy to total exhaustion! But, it's a happy tired! So who cares?!

On the other hand, on TV, internet, there's something between you and the live experience on the streets, etc. It's like a screen, as a matter of fact, it is a screen, but I say, somehow, it's like a shield, it protects you. Yes, we're not quite "experiencing" the experience, we're witnessing the experience live. Well, call it a virtual experience. Yes, although "filtered"on TV, on the internet, it's still real time so it's live! Who cares?! Everybody's happy! We're all celebrating!!

I'll be back! I'm posting this in between commercials.

I'm proud of these sportscasters, and a lot of them are women! God, sports used to be just for men. Now look at Lisa Kim, Jessica Aguirre and who is that woman, Laura, running back and forth, jumping from one cable car to another, competing with the guys, to interview the players, owners, the VIPS, all the stars, everybody!!

Commercial break...

Hey, where is Barry Bonds??

I'm back...

This is unreal! AWESOME!! AWESOME!! It doesn't end...somebody wake me up, please...

OMG, OMG!

GIANTS WON! THE GIANTS WON! THE SF GIANTS WON!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I KNEW THEY WERE GONNA WIN THE WORLD SERIES SINCE A MONTH AGO BUT I DIDN'T WANNA SAY ANYTHING 'CAUSE I MIGHT JINX IT. NOW THAT THEY WON, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

I'M GOING TO THE PARADE, WHEN IS IT?

OH, GOD, THANK YOU!

FINALLY...
