Thought for the Day

The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which... to burn.

Is it? Or there are more things in life to overcome.

BOATLIFT, An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience

I accidentally came across this beautiful story about the human spirit and character. Don't miss it.

A Short Respite

I went to my favorite hideaway, Carmel, again for a well-deserved rest after an exhausting 3-and-a -half-month work! Driving down, Norman and I first made a little detour to Santa Cruz to have lunch at Hoffman's Bistro which we saw accidentally on TV's Reality Show, Restaurant: Impossible, a few months back, and I was determined to see the place next time I went down Monterey Peninsula, I thought. I couldn't believe when I actually got there. Food was delicious and service was great! Later, we had a nice walk downtown while enjoying our chocolate chip cookies we bought from Pacific Cookie Company and on to the Boardwalk which was close for winter but it was just relaxing walking.

Then we moved on to our hotel of choice, TRADEWINDS CARMEL - a must-see and must- stay luxury hotel! After an afternoon nap, we drove to Cafe Fina at Monterey Fisherman's Wharf for one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Roxanne, our waitress, was simply incredible! She knows her product and loves her work. She impressed us so much we gave her a tip that was simply incredible, too! She deserved it.

We headed back to Tradewinds. This place really soothes the soul. It's a Zen experience being here. And I totally forgot it was there where I first saw on a small piece of art paper those words, Sleep peacefully, which has become a gentle reminder for me every now and then.

And in the morning, breakfast in bed - can't get any better than that! Norman wrote a little wish or prayer on a bamboo papyrus to offer at Buddha's Fountain. It was his turn to write this time.

We did our usual relaxing walk on the beach - we can't miss that! And, of course, our cruising downtown and the scenic Ocean View Road of the beautiful homes in this quaint little town of Carmel before heading back home...

A short respite, indeed! And with lunch at the GIANT ARTICHOKE RESTAURANT which has also become one of our regular stops to or from Monterey, and another shopping galore at Gilroy, it was well worth it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

"Love is the supreme blessing of life; love as love is universal. Personal love is concentrated universal love. " - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

One of the sweetest words about LOVE I've heard. You should hear his audio tape.

Hello, Love

HAPPY VALENTINE... BE MINE.

Super Bowl XLVI

I'm watching the New England Patriots and New York Giants Super Bowl right now and with the right condiments, Pepsi and potato chips - junk food, but the perfect food for the occasion! No, Pepsi is not junk food 'cause as the ad says, Where there is Pepsi, there is music... And I'm a musician! Was looking for Bud Light, too - yeah, right, what commercials can do to you, huh! But I didn't find one in the market or I just didn't know which aisle it was on and I was in a hurry to get back home to watch - Yup, the commercials more than the game! Don't get me wrong, I'm a sports fanatic! But the game can change, with turnovers, errors, etc. It's not over till it's over. But commercials, you don't want to miss. Companies spend millions of dollars to win a bid at the Super Bowl. They're incredible, worth watching! And so is the half-time show! And God, with Madonna, what a production!

After more than 3 grueling months at work, I deserve a treat!

On Heart Attack and Water

Here's Sharing -

Heart Attack & Water

Something I didn't know either! I asked my Doctor why do I and other people urinate (pee) so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor = Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright. When you lie down and the lower body (legs and other things) seeks level with the kidneys it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in with the last statement!
I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... very Important. >From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

Please pass this to the people you care about......
I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

In short, "Leave outside outside."

Good article! And yes, I'd help save the planet for a piece of chocolate.

Talk About... Stress and De-stressing

Here's sharing -

Stress Management -
A young lady confidently walked around the room while reading and explaining stress management to an audience; with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?'..... She fooled them all..., "How heavy is this glass of water?", she inquired with a smile.
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."
"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced.
So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night... pick them up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment. Relax, pick them up later, after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it and the now 'supposed' stress that you've conquered!"REMEMBER, STRESS IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO TO OURSELVES !!

1* Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon,
and some days you're the statue!
2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.
5 * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
8 * Never buy a car you can't push.
9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
10 * Nobody cares if you can't dance well.
Just get up and dance.
11 * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.
13 * When everything's coming your way,
you're in the wrong lane.
14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more
you have, the longer you live.
15 * You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
16 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
17 * We could learn a lot from crayons.
Some are sharp, some are pretty and
some are dull. Some have weird
names and all are different colors,
but they all have to live in the same box.
18 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
19 * Have an awesome day and know that
someone thought about you today.
20 * It was me, your friend!
*Save the earth..... It's the only planet with chocolate !*
